Hey,

yes, I'm still alive and I'm still in Maribor :D Just in the past 2 weeks I was super busy with school stuff, yeah I know, it is maybe unbelievable because I'm on Erasmus, but it's busier than I thought.

After my last post I submitted four seminar papers and had two exams, now I'm very relieved :) of course there was a big party to celebrate on wednesday :D

Oh, I almost forgot, I was on a trip, too :) on a really great one: first we went to Croatia, Zagrab, Rijeka and Pula. Zagrab is a nice city, it's a big city with a lot of opportunities, but somehow it's still very friendly, I liked it a lot. Rijeka was nothing special, because I already was there in the summer. Pula: it was very good to be there again after spending there 4 days in the summer, it's still a cool place :)  After Croatia we came back to Slovenia, we went to the seaside, it's amazing. I think it's better than Croatia. We were in Isola, slept in Koper and went to Piran. I enjoyed it a lot, the italian influance is really visible. After the seaside we went to the mountains. Slovenia has two faces and it's really great. In the mountains I'm always amazed by the nature, what kind of things nature can create. We visited Planice, a famous skijumping place, those towers are just crazy, the only thing that I can say that crazy people exist :D

And I was in theatre as well and I enjoyed it very much, there was English subtitle, so there was no problem with understanding :)

In the next week I still have an exam on Wednesday, so I will be able to go home just on Thursday :/ I cannot wait, it will be great to be at home for a while. But before that xmas shopping is just waiting for me :P
To be honest on the other hand it will be probably weird to be at home, not speaking in English, not not seeing the others for 3 weeks, I really got used to this international environment. But it just 3 weeks, afer that I will still have 3-4 weeks here :)

Dear all,

since my last post I had my first exam here, in Maribor. It was much more difficult than I thought, because the teacher told us that we get just basic questions, but it was a lie :( but the good news is that I passed and I got a C, so one subject is completed :)

On previous weekend my roommate was here to visit me from Prague, it was very cool to see her after two months. We were not so lucky with the weather, but it was still a great time :) We were walking around the city, shopping, eating a lot, went to cinema and I finally used the public transportation and cable car to go to the mountains, it was very cool, the view was beautiful :)

On this week I was ice skating, I'm still not the best, but I enjoyed a lot, I will go on next tuesday too, because we have to pay only for the shoes, so I hope I will be able to improve my skating skills a lot during the semester.

Wednesday was my perfect day. In the morning I went to hairdresser, so my hair has a nice color again, yaaay :) After it I finally managed to buy local vine in a vine store and it's great :) Later I ate a good pizza, had a good coffee next to Drava during enjoying the sunshine and went to Kalvarija with a beer to watch the sunset, it was really gorgeous :) In the evening my sis booked our flight tickets to Berlin, we will go in March, yaaay :) and at night we had even a party :) It was really a perfect day :))

Yesterday the Xmas finally arrived in Maribor. We have a lot of lights in the city and a Christmas Market too, and I bought my chocolate Xmas calander with the pic of Rudolf :) The funny part of the market is that you can only buy drinks :D no handmade stuff, small gifts, this city is really for Erasmus people :D

Today I had visitors again from home, my ex-colleagues came :) it was a very nice day, we were walking a lot in the city, chatting, going to Piramida :) and I got túró-rudi :)

My slovene is just getting better and better. I'm able to understand how much I have to my in stores :D ohh and I finally tried the choco kebab, I think a pic is enough:

Hi people,

really sorry for becoming more and more lazy...so what happened in the last more than one week?

Last saturday and sunday my parents were here, it was so cool to see them :) Of course I got a lot of things from them: túró rudi, pálinka, apples, paprikas, homemade jams, chocolate, first I was very shocked because of the two big bags, but to be honest now I'm happy that I have a lot of things :) On saturday we went to Ljubljana, it was rainy, but still enjoyable, it's a nice city :)

In the evening we had dinner in Maribor, I had to show them the pizzeria, where you can cut the pizza with scissors :D

The nex day we spent in Maribor, actually  it was my first real sightseeing tour in Maribor :D I think I showed them every impotant thing. Unfortunately because of the rain we could not go to Pohorje, but we had cevapcici :)

In this week I started to apply for jobs and I had even an interview, so getting the perfect job is in progress :)

On wednesday as usual we had party, in the dorm we cannot be loud after 10 pm and this rule is very strict, if we do not take it seriously, the security guys come and yell with us...but there is a party room, what we can rent and there we can be til 1 am, so on wednesday we rented that room for predrinking :) it was a good night, the pálinka was very popular :D

The friday was again the day for the guitar and singing, I really like this, just gathering in the kitchen, drinking a beer and singing some songs :)

And the best part of the week was on Saturday, we went to Celje to watch a handball game, Celje vs. Szeged :) The match was really exciting, they were very close to each other at the beginning, but then Szeged became much better and they won :) :) We had tickets for a normal, slovanian sector, because it was too complicated to buy "hungarian" tickets, but fortunately we could change the seats, so we were cheering with the hungarians :)

It was my first time to exprience shared car system. We went and came back by car too and there was no problem, quite easy to book, and it was much more cheaper and faster than train :)

Oh and funfact for today: in Celje I found out that there is no McFreeze in Slovenia, it was really weird I asked for it, because I thought that everthing is the same in every restaurant, but not, here it's called McSundae :D :D

2016. november 4., péntek

Hello everybody,

I'm a bit late, sorry for this, but in this week til now I was really in zombie mode because of the parties and the change of the weather (winter is really coming unfortunately... :/ and I have to find a nice winter coat... :)

So about the trip: it was very cool :) we again rented a car, a really big one, because it was for seven people, represented countries: Hungary, Poland, Croatia, Pakistan, Turkey and Spain, I really like this multiculti :) first we went to Graz, we spent not too much time there, but I liked it, it's a nice town, I could see trams again :D (I miss Budapest :/) The next destination was the Gesäuse National Park, before Erasmus I didn't know that I love nature that much, but I do, it can be so beautiful :)

,

After Graz we went to Hallsatt, it's a very cute place, like in a farytail, it reminded me a bit to Bled, I would be nice to go there again during summer and I'm planning to buy a house there, right after my volvo, piano and house at the sea :D

After Hallstatt we spent the night in a nice apartment in a small village with a great view:

On Sunday we went to Salzburg, it's a great city, very beautiful :) We visited a lot of places, castle, churches, fortress, hauses of Mozart and of course a Manner and Mozartkugel shop :)

Actually just driving in Austia surrounded by mountains, hills was very cool and enjoyable:

Monday was the day to have some rest and preparing for the halloween party and it was the first day for me to cook here...okay, I just made pasta with tuna and pesto, but still I did sg :D

On Tuesday afternoon with a few people I went to the top of a hill close to the dorm, one girl brought her guitar, so she was playing and we were singing and enjoying the sunset from the hill :) (Sorry I made no pictures, but next time I will ;)

On Wednesday I was running and finally went for picture for my CV, so my CV is ready, I just have to convince to myself to start applying for jobs, but I really don't want go back to the reality from the "Erasmus life"... :D  and in the night we had party again, ahh life is hard here :D

On Thursday I was mainly suffering because of the two parties :D

I think this is the first week when I really started to miss my family, friends and Budapest, after the trip to Austria it was very weird because I just really wanted to speak with sy in Hungarian...but my parents will come to visit me, so porblem solved ( or at least I hope so) :)

2016. október 28., péntek

Hello,

I know it's not sunday, but it's time for the next post, because the next two days I will spend in Austria, yaaay :) It'll be a 2-days trip, we'll visit Graz, the Gesäuse National Park, Hallstatt, Salzburg, Brechtesgaden, and Pörtschach, or at least this is the plan :D my suitcase is already ready and I'm really excited :)

In this week I held my first presentation here with two other people, I was very nervous before it because of the English, but I think it was good and the teacher liked it :) Just like at home we have a lot of group project here.

On tuesday I managed to buy a blouse, so next week I'll go a photo place and ask for a photo for my CV, and then the jobhunt will be started, cross your fingers pls ;)
On the same day, we had a program so called "buddy rally". We had to form groups and complete tasks in the city, e.g. make a picture with people in purple, dancing duckdance with ducks and we had to record everything by phone, it was really funny :D I'm still waiting for the result, because the group, who completed the most tasks, will get a prize :)

In this week I was running twice, without working and with not too much lectures, I really have time for such things, it's so cool :) Once I was running in the park next to the dorm, and once along the Drava, it was so cool, to be honest maybe it was better than along the Danube at home...

Wednesday was the day for party, it was a very good one with good music :)

Furthermore I applied for slovene language course, so I'll start to learn slovene in Novemeber, I'm a bit afraid that it'll be hard for me, but we'll see.

And of course I'm still enjoying the food coupons, in this week I ate for free 3 times with coupon and all of them were really okay, especially for free :D

On Monday the next piece about trip will come ;)

2016. október 23., vasárnap

Hello,

here I'm again. My third week in Maribor is almost over, unbelievable :)

This week was a really good one, it was the first one without programs by ESN, so I could plan my days. I liked the programs by ESN, but somehow without them this week was very calm and nice :) For example I discovered a cute honey shop, I got my first haircut here, I took a long walk along the Drava :) and unfortunately I had to make some homework :(

On friday a few of us from the dorm visited a hungarian guy in Ptuj. It was very nice, we were walking in the city, discovered the castle, had a coffee and in the evening we were cooking "gulyás", it was delicious :)

Saturday was the day for hiking, it was a 20 km trip to the top of Pohorje with two polish girls, I enjoyed it a lot :) the surprising part was that there was a huge amount of snow on the top of the mountain, I didn't expect that much... Today I really can feel my legs :D

To summarize my status: My connection with the euros is still not the best, my purse is always too heavy because of the coins, I'm still searching for a good bakery, the bus tickets are extremly expensive (2,3 euros for 30 min.) but I can eat free with coupons, the nature is beautiful, the town is very nice, and the people too, so I'm still really enjoying being here :) :)

2016. október 16., vasárnap

Hi,

sorry for being lazy and posting just once on a week... but it is beacuse I really like being here, it feels like I have been here for at least a month :) But the question is how was my week?

On monday I had a terrible lecture, the teacher is bit dizzy, she was even talking about her kids, I could not really follow her, and not because of the english... :( :( But fortunately a wine tasting saved the day, maribor has the oldest vine in the world, it is more than 400 years, unfortunately that special vine is just for special people, (I am really trying to be one :D) but the others were good too :) And at night we went to Ljubljana for a big all erasmus people from slovenia party.

On tuesday I was sleeping a lot because of the party :D We visited a museum of Maribor. Usually museums are boring to me, but our tour guide was really passionate about history and funny, so I could enjoy it :) In the evening there was a pub quiz, according to the quiz, people think that hungarians drink a lot, complain a lot and we spend our whole life at one place and actually I can confim that :D

On thursday I had lectures, which were quite good and we went to a spa :)
The most important part of the day was planning our first trip in Slovenia. There was a trip organised by a local student organisation, but it was already sold out, when I tried to buy a ticket. I was not the only one with this situation, so  with four other people we organised our own trip. We rented a car, and we did a two days trip in Slovenia, it was super cool :) :) :) We used my phone as gps, so now everbody from the trip knows in hungarian the "turn left" and "turn right" :D You can check my facebook for beautiful photos :) I think my favorite destination was Lake Bohinj, I think it is even better than the very popular Bled. I think I really left my comfort zone, I rented a car with four people, who I barely know, I think the "Eszti in Hungary" could never do such thing, but here everything is very different, and I really like this :)

2016. október 9., vasárnap

Hello everybody,

What happaned since my last post? I finally have a roommate, a polish girl, who is very nice :) yaaay :)

On tuesday we had a slovanian dinner, the slovanian foods are very similar with the hungarian ones, so I liked them and there was slovanian folk dance with some games, it was nice :)

On wednesday I discovered the park next to the dorm, I went for running it's quiet big, one circle is more than 1 km, so it was really cool.

Later we had a program called "timber rafting". It was on Drava. We got an amazing view and some vine of course :D and there was slovanian music and some games :)

At night we had a really good party :)

On thursday I had two lectures, they seem to be not so difficult, the professors's English is very good and I could understand everything, so it was totally okay. Picture about the school:

After school I was with Germans, I tried to improve my German  a bit, at least I could understand a few words :D

At night we had a gala night at a fancy rooftop place, so it was time to dress up :)

On friday I finally got my slovanian personal number, so I could apply for student coupons. There is a really good system here, every student get 20 coupons per month and with the coupons we get very good discounts in restaurants, e.g. on friday for a soup, tortilla, salad and peach I had to pay only 2 euros :)

Saturday was the day to have some rest.

Today we had international dinner, so with the other hungarians we cooked goulash soup and we made small bites with sausage and salami and I could try the specialities of other countries.

2016. október 5., szerda

Hi again,

so my next day in Maribor was sunday. After a long sleep we went to buy a few other things, so now I really have everything in my room, even small hanger on the wall and mirror :D Later we had a very good mexican lunch :)

After it the time came to say good bye to my family, it was a bit sad and weird, because I started to really feel that I'm alone in a unknown city with a lot of strangers... :D After a period of hesitation and plannig I was brave enough to just go to the kitchen to introduce myself to the others :D It's really cool here, that people are eating and cooking in the kitchen, you can almost anytime find there somebody to chat, everybody is very friendly and open-minded :)

Luckily one of my neighbours is hungarian and he came earlier, so already knows a lot of people. So in the evening he invited me to join them for a beer. And it was a very good time, the slovanian beer, Lasko is quiet good :)

Monday was my firts day at school. The welcome session was nice: welcoming, a singer, presentation about statistics regarding Erasmus students, about ESN. We got a t-shirt and some snacks as well :)

After that we had another welcome session at the faculty, I got my timetable, time of exams, contacts of the professors ad some paperwork of course...
In the evening I had dinner with the hungarian guys, it was really good talking in hungarian a little bit :)

At night we had the welcome party, it was quiet good, especially the gathering before it in the dorm :) and after the party I realized that here I can see the stars on the sky because there is no smog :D :)

I'm in Maribor

Hello everybody,

I arrived in Maribor yesterday morning, the journey was really good, just 3 and a half hours, and it was quite easy the find the dormitory. The room looks like my room at home, but there are more shelves and space in the wardrobe (yesss! :) and it's newer. My roommate haven't arrived yet, but I hope she will today, but choosing between the beds, wardrobes... etc. was really good :)

After arrival we went to europark to buy some things to my room, it was very tiring after the journey, but now my room is very homy. The cashier in the hypermarket was very nice, she had the current magazine with coupons and she searched for the coupons which were good for me and gave me the discount :)

After the shopping we finally had lunch, I think a picture about us was almost put to the wall of the restaurant because we ordered 3 large cevapcici and we ate all of them, my brother-in-law has the record with 14 pieces :D :D

Later I cleaned the room and unpacked the suitcases, had some rest and we discovered the city, it is very cute, it's bit like Sopron or Kőszeg, narrow streets, you can reach everything by foot. We discovered a very good pizza place, where you can cut the pizza with scissors, it's really funny :D

Pictures about the city:

The final countdown is really coming...

It's unbelievable... in two days my erasmus semester will be started, it's crazy that I applied for it one year ago, time flies... I'm really excited and a bit nervous, but I think it's normal :)

The last few weeks were very busy, having farewell parties, dinners, lunches, drinks :D thank you for them to all of my friedns, ex-colleauges :) dealing with bank and school stuff, buying new clothes for parties and school (bye-bye business casual clothes for 4 months, yaaay) and of course a hiking jacket, small suitcase for trips, applying for international student card, downloading offline map and slovenian dictionary, but I think I almost covered everthing on my to do list :) (ohh just came to my mind that I have to check the slovenian electronic plug type :D ) Now I have some rest at home, saying good bye to my family and friends here.

On friday I have to pack my bags, change money and I will be ready for the journey. I will leave Budapest on Saturday morning, so the next piece you will get from Maribor :)
